Preaching the Gospel at Digos City District Jail, Digos City, Davao del Sur

October 24, 2016

during the worship service
Many prisoners love to hear and learn the truth of the Gospel. But "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:14We need God's truths to be brought into these prisoners. We have many rich harvest fields here and the fruits are ready for picking. (Matthew 9:37-38)

For Ten (10) years, we were able to preach and baptized about 150 prisoners here in Digos City District Jail or Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). There were many members of the Church of Christ in this jail and many of them remain faithful. Unfortunately, the new Jail Warden made a policy by removing all religious schedule every afternoon and our schedule was one of it. Our worship here was every Sunday at 2:00-3:00 PM. We do what we can to request the jail administration but until now, they could not consider even if we are preaching here for 10 years already. Please help us pray with this matter.

But even if we are not able to preach here for 3 months already, the jail administration still considered us as part of their service providers. This day, we are scheduled to preach the Gospel of Christ. My father, Julie Divine A. Notarte, preached about the Church that Jesus built and the importance of water baptism as what Jesus commanded on the great commission (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16). We are thankful for this opportunity and we are also edified to see the brethren who miss us so much. They said that they are praying for us.

Before the program had started, the Jail Warden of the Female talk to us in her office until we have an opportunity to study the bible with her. She is also a religious person and had a bible with her. For about 1 hour, the Gospel of Christ was preached. Please help us pray that God touches her heart to obey the truth.

Memorandum Of Understanding Signing at Digos City District Jail, San Miguel, Digos City, Davao del Sur

May 18, 2016

"For the Lord hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners." Psalm 69:33

The Church of Christ was fortunate to have worship services in Digos City District Jail, both to Male and Female quarters every Sunday at 2:00-3:00 PM. This we do for 10 years already and had baptized 150 souls with the cooperation of brother Julie Divine A. Notarte and my brothers in flesh, Joseph and Jonathan. Since last year, the work in this jail grows after Ben Dulong was baptized and he preached here every Wednesday.

As our responsibility, we are tasked to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) together with the jail officers. This will permit us to continue preaching inside the jail. May God help our work here in preaching the truth so we can harvest many more lost souls into Christ.

We were also able to sign a Memorandum of Agreement in Male quarter. If you want to see the pictures, search it on my blog on March 14, 2016.

"We signed our MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) with J/Supt. Peter D. Bongat Jr., MPA - District Jail Warden. We had baptized a total of more than 150 jailed persons inside this jail since 2006. One of those baptized on 2006, when he was released from this jail, he preached the truth to his family & relatives & with the grace of God, fifteen (15) were converted and was baptized into Christ at Dawis, Digos City. We give all the glory to God. We held worship services every Sunday inside this jail at 2:00 - 3:00 PM with the cooperation of my three sons: Joseph, Jonathan, and Joshua. This is the scheduled set for the Church of Christ for the Males and Females for about 10 years already."
